Storage Plaistow Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Storage Plaistow has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. Storage Plaistow is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently and in full compliance with applicable legislation relating to modern slavery.
Modern slavery is a crime and a serious violation of fundamental human rights. It can take various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, bonded labour and human trafficking. Storage Plaistow recognises that every business has a responsibility to be vigilant and to act to prevent these abuses from occurring within its own activities and business relationships.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Plaistow maintains a clear, zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not accept any form of exploitation within our business or supply chains. All team members, contractors and suppliers are expected to uphold this standard and to comply with all applicable labour and human rights laws.
Our zero-tolerance policy is embedded in our internal guidelines and supplier expectations. Any indication that modern slavery may be present in our operations or supply chains will be treated as a serious breach of our standards and may result in the termination of commercial relationships, alongside any actions required by law or regulation.
Supply Chain Management and Supplier Audits
Storage Plaistow works with a range of suppliers that provide goods and services essential to the operation of our storage facilities. We recognise that risks related to modern slavery can arise at different tiers of these supply chains, particularly where there is reliance on low-skilled or temporary labour, or where raw materials are sourced from higher risk regions or sectors.
To address these risks, we are developing and implementing proportionate due diligence measures. These include risk-based supplier assessments, requiring suppliers to confirm that they do not tolerate modern slavery, and seeking assurances that they operate in compliance with relevant labour standards. For higher risk suppliers, Storage Plaistow may undertake or commission audits or request independent certifications to verify compliance.
Where concerns are identified, we will engage with the supplier to understand the issue and agree corrective actions with clear timelines. Persistent non-compliance, lack of transparency or failure to address identified issues may result in the suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Raising Concerns
Storage Plaistow encourages all employees, contractors, customers and other stakeholders to speak up if they have concerns about modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business or supply chains. Reports can be made through our management team or established internal reporting channels. Concerns may include suspected exploitation, unsafe or degrading working conditions, retention of identity documents, or any other practice that may indicate forced or compulsory labour.
All reports will be taken seriously and handled sensitively. Where appropriate, Storage Plaistow will conduct an internal investigation or work with external specialists to review the concerns raised. We are committed to ensuring that individuals who raise concerns in good faith do not suffer retaliation or disadvantage as a result of speaking up.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
Storage Plaistow is working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant employees, particularly those who work with suppliers, contractors and facility operations. Training and guidance will focus on identifying potential warning signs, understanding our zero-tolerance stance, and knowing how to escalate any concerns.
We recognise that addressing modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires continual improvement. We will refine our approach as our business evolves and as best practice and legal requirements develop, including learning from cases, industry guidance and feedback from stakeholders.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually to ensure that it remains accurate, effective and aligned with our business activities and risk profile. The review will consider any incidents reported, the outcomes of supplier audits, changes in legislation and emerging best practice.
Following each review, Storage Plaistow will update this Statement where necessary and communicate any significant changes to relevant stakeholders. This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Plaistow, who retain overall responsibility for ensuring that the policies and practices described are implemented and maintained throughout the business.
